Motorists who do not want to see their comprehensive car insurance costs rise may be interested to hear RoadPilot has dropped the price of its speed camera locator in time for Christmas.

The microGo is a pocket-sized gadget which alerts users to the presence of speed cameras and accident blackspots.

Now available for £99.95, the gadget uses pre-loaded maps of European camera sites to make drivers aware of local speed limits and help them avoid breaking the law while in the UK and on the continent.

RoadPilot claims it can offer a better service than its competitors because surveyors visit every location recorded in order to ensure all details are accurate.

The company states the size of the device is also a bonus as it can be easily removed from a vehicle and carried about, which it says is helpful considering the prevalence of car crime.

In other news, a recent survey by RoadPilot has revealed 71 per cent of motorists break the speed limit on more than one in four journeys.
