Adventure holiday The kind of destinations and activities Brits are opting for while on holiday may mean travel insurance is more important then ever, one publication has suggested.

Group Leisure magazine has noted a change in the type of trips people from the UK are choosing.

Rob Yandell, managing editor, said: "People are getting more adventurous [and] looking for new and exciting worldwide destinations."

He stated consumers realise they can go anywhere and there are a whole range of activities on offer.

Mr Yandell's comments follow research from Cater Allan Private Bank which revealed there has been a shift in the habits of holidaymakers from the UK.

It found 69 per cent of travellers made a conscious effort to avoid places where there were crowds of tourists and 25 per cent said they liked to go off the beaten track.

The study also revealed 63 per cent of holidaymakers prefer long haul destinations, compared to 26 per cent who would choose Europe.
