The likelihood of a driver making a claim on their van insurance could be written in the stars, a new study has suggested.

Research by Accident Exchange has revealed when you are born could mean you are at greater risk of being involved in a road traffic collision.

After looking at 115,000 claims, the group found Geminis were most likely to be in an accident.

Taureans and Arians were also found to be at higher risk behind the wheel.

The star signs least likely to be involved in an accident were Sagittarians and Scorpios.

Psychological expert Philip Hodson said there could be something in the findings.

However, he added: "The challenge, of course, is for anyone to prove that the heavens play any part in this process, as opposed to whether you are a child of – say – the summer or wintertime."

Previous research by Accident Exchange found 700,000 motorists hit a parked car and then drive away every year, leaving other motorists with a repair bill of about £1.25 billion.
