Car insurance customers who are considering treating themselves to a sporty new vehicle may want to take a look at the Mazda MX-5.

The two-seater has just pipped models like the Porsche Boxter and Audi TT to the post to claim the title of Best Roadster in the 2008 Auto Express Used Car Honours.

Commenting on the model, Auto Express described the MX-5 as "a fantastic choice and a thrilling drive".

Meanwhile, Mark Cameron, marketing director at Mazda UK, said: "It delivers on the promise of thrilling open-air motoring, with everyday reliability and modest running costs."

Since being launched in 1990, more than 90,000 MX-5s have been bought by motorists in the UK.

Mr Cameron said this was good news for used car customers as it meant there was a wide choice available to them.

In other news, Mazda revealed earlier this month it would be unveiling a lightweight concept car at this year's Paris Motor Show.
