12 September 2008 Moulin Rouge dancers greet 1904 Renault
Motorists who appreciate the kind of vehicles that require classic car insurance may be interested to hear that a 104-year-old Renault arrived in London this week after completing a 250-mile journey from Paris.The event marked the launch of festivities connected with this year's London to Brighton Veteran Car Run (LBVCR) the theme of which is French motor manufacturing.
On its arrival in the capital, the 1904 classic was welcomed with a display of traditional Parisian can-can dancing.
Daniel Ward, the owner of the Renault, was accompanied on his trip by the chief executive officer of the Moulin Rouge, Jen-Jacques Clerico, who drove a 1902 Derracq.
Both men intend to take part in the London to Brighton run which has been scheduled for November 2nd.
Commenting on the support from Paris, LBVCR event director Roger Etcell said: "The Moulin Rouge is instantly recognisable worldwide as very French and we are pleased to have them as a partner for the 2008 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run."
Meanwhile, Renault has announced it will unveil its concept vehicle Ondelios - at the motor show in the French capital next month.
