10 September 2008 Tips given for car insurance customers looking to cut costs
Drivers who are struggling to cover the cost of car insurance, fuel, maintenance and other motoring costs may be pleased to hear the government is planning to help road users save money.Measures being introduced today will mean the practical driving test will include advice on driving more economically.
The government is also ploughing £3 million into a campaign to help all drivers reduce their fuel bills.
Tips for drivers looking to cut spending are already being aired on a number of radio stations and television viewers are set to be offered advice next year.
Transport minister Jim Fitzpatrick said taking the government's tips on board could save motorists a month's worth of fuel a year.
He stated: "Common sense changes can make for major improvements."
As well as being transport minister, Mr Fitzpatrick has also the MP for Poplar and Canning Town in London for over a decade.
