Fiat Punto drivers who are feeling the effects of the credit crunch could save money by maintaining their own vehicle, according to Haynes.

And the publisher has given owners a helping hand by releasing a new maintenance manual for the model.

According to Haynes, the Punto is a relatively easy vehicle for motorists to get to grips with, as the majority of areas that require attention regularly can be accessed easily.

Haynes claims the manual will take drivers through a number of procedures step-by-step with "precise, extensively illustrated instructions".

The book includes information on maintenance which needs to be carried out on both a daily and weekly basis.

It also offers advice for drivers preparing their vehicle for an MOT test.
