06 August 2008 Increase recorded in 2008 BIMS visitors

Increase in motor show attendance. There has been a rise in the number of people visiting this year's British International Motor Show (BIMS) compared to the previous event.

Statistics show that some 472,300 Britons walked through the doors at London ExCeL for the 12-day exhibition, which is up by 57,300 on attendance figures in 2006.

Among those visiting the show this year could be people looking to pick up a new vehicle, as well as those looking for a good car credit or car insurance deal from the companies on-hand.

Marketing director for the event Kirsty Perkinson stated that a number of different factors contributed to the success of this year's show.

She commented it was "not only to the quality of the global debuts and the support of such a fantastic collection of motor manufacturers, but also to the wide range of interactive attractions and family-friendly features" that made it successful.

Among the cars displayed at this year's show was the Mini John Cooper Works hatchback model.
