Television personality Kelly Brook has fallen foul of the law by using her mobile phone while driving.

28-year-old Brook, who recently appeared in BBC1 series Strictly Come Dancing, was handed a ticket for handling the device while in control of her vehicle.

Under legislation introduced by the Department for Transport in February 2007, the actress now faces three points on her driving licence as well as a £60 fine.

Furthermore, she could have difficulty picking up a cheap car insurance policy in the future if cover firms consider her a risk.

"The officers didn't treat her differently than anyone else ... They explained it was against the law and gave her a stern talking-to," an onlooker told the Daily Mirror.

Madonna is another celebrity who has had trouble dealing with traffic law in the UK.

MSN Cars UK has reported that the superstar has racked up in excess of £2,500 in fines since moving to Britain seven years ago.
