28 July 2008 Switching cars for bikes 'can see drivers save'
Motorists can create financial breathing space by swapping their cars for motorbikes, according to a financial planner.Research from Martin Bamford commissioned by Bennetts found that £337,700 can be saved over a lifetime if drivers switch from four wheels to two.
Those who switch may find that they save on motor insurance, as a car insurance deal can sometimes cost more than a policy for a motorbike.
Marketing director for Bennetts Mark Fells commented that vehicle upkeep costs between the two models differ greatly.
"We hope that these findings will encourage people to review their personal transport methods in an effort to lower costs and reduce the hassle of commuting," said the official.
Earlier this month, research from the Finance & Leasing Association found that there are more automobiles being picked up on finance deals this year compared to 12 months ago.
