23 July 2008 Ford Focus picks up What Car? Green Car of the Year award

What Car? award for Ford Focus The Ford Focus has been given the What Car? Green Car of the Year award at this week's British International Motor Show.

Claiming the prize after beating off competition from 23 other models in the category, the model picked up the gong in the Greener Driving Pavilion of the exhibition.

In addition, the special editor's award was given to BMW for its Efficient Dynamics technology.

People who pick up a BMW or a Focus could find that they gain cheaper car insurance deals as a reward for their eco-friendly stance.

According to Duncan McClure Fisher from Warranty Direct, environmentally-friendly cars are as popular as ever.

"Fuel prices have certainly focused the consumers mind ... One thing is for sure, the choices available are expanding all the time and it's encouraging to see a clear pattern of change from the manufacturers," he said.

Also at this week's British International Motor Show, Ford unveiled its Ford Focus RS.
