21 July 2008 BMW cars 'are UK's cleanest'
BMW Group vehicles have been named the cleanest premium vehicles in new research.According to Clean Green Cars, the company has improved its average emissions by 11.34 per cent since January 2008.
This is higher than rivals Audi, Mercedes and Lexus, whose efficiency gains went up by 5.78 per cent, 4.13 per cent and 2.16 per cent respectively.
Motorists with cleaner vehicles emitting a smaller amount of CO2 could find that they pick up cheaper car insurance policies from cover companies as a reward.
"The BMW Group should be praised for its leading stance in this area. It's proof that driving dynamics can go hand-in-hand with a green conscience," said Clean Green Cars publisher Jay Nagley.
Meanwhile, officials in Beijing have announced a two-month plan to keep the city clean during the Olympic Games.
The capital's 3.3 million cars will be allowed to travel on alternate days depending on whether their licence plates end with odd or even numbers.
