18 July 2008 Police clamp down on cruisers
Police officers in the south Wales area are to crack down on teenagers who cruise around the region in their cars, it has been reported. The BBC has stated that Gwent officials are also targeting those in the west county who behave in such an anti-social manner on the roads.
Cruising is an activity in which young drivers meet up - sometimes organising through the internet - in order to convene and drive around together.
The activity could result in a road conviction which may make it difficult for motorists to pick up cheap car insurance policies in the future - as cover firms could charge more if they see them as a risk.
Blackwood county councillor Keith Smallman said: "They are coming in from all over the place and apparently have their own website where they advertise to come cruising in the high street."
