17 July 2008 Ford records demand in green vehicles
Motor manufacturer Ford has recorded an increased amount of sales in green vehicles.According to the company, output at its Dagenham site in East London has now surpassed 1,000,000 low CO2 engines per year.
The Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi range and 1.4/1.6 diesel Fiesta plus 1.6 TDCi vehicles are all enjoying an increase in registrations of 38 per cent this year against the same period in 2007.
It could be that those who pick up environmentally-friendly models gain cheap car insurance as a reward from some cover firms.
"Manufacturing, sales and service are embracing a common green vision ... They are both reflecting what's on motorists' minds - needing to minimise the cost and impact of motoring," said Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director.
Meanwhile, the Ford Fiesta plant in Cologne, Germany was recently covered in giant illustrations by creative agency Cake in order to promote the production of a new model.
