14 July 2008 Hyundai shows off new green car

Hyundai made an appearance at the Goodwood Festival. The Goodwood Festival of Speed this week welcomed Hyundai for the first time in its history.

From Friday July 11th to Sunday July 13th, the company was at the Green Technology of Tomorrow pavilion showcasing the QarmaQ concept vehicle among others.

Hyundai has revealed that the car needs less than 200 litres of fuel adding per year to run, while its annual greenhouse gas emissions have been cut by 200kg.

Motorists who pick up eco-friendly vehicles could find that they subsequently gain cheap car insurance deals, as cover firms could offer less expensive deals to those acting in an environmentally-conscious manner.

"The QarmaQ develops and validates over 30 key technologies, which will be selectively incorporated into future Hyundai production models," Hyundai commented.

This comes as Hyundai has announced that it will supply Xiamen Golden Dragon bus company in China with 171,000 power trains for its vehicles over the next five years.
