16 June 2008 Euro drink-drive scheme rolled out in Scarborough

Scarborough police begin drink-driving campaign. A drink-driving scheme employed across Europe is to be used by police in Scarborough, according to a news source in the area.

The Scarborough Evening News has stated that police in North Yorkshire tested 315 motorists in the region in its first week of operation.

Drivers who receive a £60 fine or three points on their driving licence as a result of being fined over the limit may have difficulty picking up cheap car insurance policies in the future.

This is because some cover firms could judge them to be a threat on the road due to their behaviour and increase costs.

North Yorkshire officers are also currently running the Operation Anvil road safety campaign with support from the 95 Alive initiative across the region.

And earlier this month, police in East Riding began a crackdown on the area's dangerous drivers, according to the Beverly Guardian.
