05 June 2008 Commercial vehicle sector 'holding up'
The commercial vehicle sector is holding up well despite fears of an economic slowdown and a slump in consumer confidence, new figures show.According to EurotaxGlass's Guide to Commercial Vehicle Values, the heavyweight sector has remained buoyant so far this year.
And George Alexander, chief commercial vehicle editor at EurotaxGlass's, said it is possible that heavy trucks will maintain "a good part of their previous sales momentum" in the coming months.
Aside from poorly maintained vehicles which are struggling to find buyers, commercial light vans are also seeing steady take up, the report shows.
"For dealers, it is a case of so far, so good, but tread carefully," advised Mr Alexander, pointing out that extended lead times mean the industry is essentially playing catch up with sales figures.
