Van insurance customers have a chance to pick up a bargain at auctions for commercial vehicles, it has been suggested.

BCA, a vehicle auction firm, suggested that small and medium-sized firms could find a "good deal" when looking to expand their commercial fleet at an auction.

Because of the credit crunch, commercial vehicle sales have experienced a "tougher market", said BCA.

The firm suggested there are more ex-lease vans available, with business development manager Duncan Ward claiming auctions offer a "great opportunity" for smaller firms to find a bargain.

He said there are lots of good quality vans available at auctions and advised small and medium-sized businesses to consider which vehicle they should get to fulfil their needs.

"But, as importantly, they need to ensure that whatever they choose will get a good price when they come to resell," Mr Ward said.

BCA holds more than 100 auctions in the UK every week, according to its website.
