28 May 2008 Old Bill targets speeders

Police officers are using a classic car to curb speeding. Motorists who break the speed limit are to be targeted by police in Longridge using an old classic car for help, a local news source has reported.

Longridge News has stated that a Morris Minor panda car named Old Bill is been installed as mascot for the Operation Pandas campaign.

It is being driven around more dangerous parts of the region in an effort to remind drivers to keep their speed down, the news source added.

And it may be that motorists caught out by the vehicle find that their car insurance policies go up as a result, as cover firms might not look kindly on drivers with prior convictions.

"We have increased the use of the car quite dramatically and we are covering many thousands of miles per year and consequently we are able to be more pro-active in more communities throughout our operational areas," said Will Hull owner of Old Bill.

A study from GfK NOP found Morris Minor to be the car name most evocative of Britain, Motorinsurance.co.uk has stated.ADNFCR-682-ID-18612518-ADNFCR
