Former tennis player Anna Kournikova and film star Johnny Depp have been revealed as the celebrities the British public would most like to see wash their car, a new survey has found.

According to a poll from car supermarket group Motorpoint, Kournikova finished ahead of finished ahead of Christina Aguilera and Scarlett Johansson.

Meanwhile, car insurance customers may be surprised to see George Clooney, David Beckham and Ewan McGregor among the also-rans as Depp came out on top in the men's category.

General manager at Motorpoint Derby John Hood commented that "drivers wouldn't pass on a helping hand from a celebrity".

He said: "Washing your car is often thought of as just a routine part of vehicle maintenance."

Johnny Depp is perhaps best-known for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

He has also worked with director Tim Burton in Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow and Edward Scissorhands.
