01 May 2008 Face-to-face travel planning 'preferable to some'

Booking through a travel agent could be better for some. People looking to book a holiday this year may find booking through a travel agent a more desirable method than going online, according to new research.

The 'human' approach is preferred by one-fifth of holidaymakers in the UK, consumer body Which Holiday? has stated.

It may also be that a more personal approach to booking is also the best way for travellers to take out a travel insurance policy.

Katie Shipp, researcher for the group, commented that the face-to-face method is best for those who are not tech-savvy and comfortable when it comes to using the internet.

She said: "There are still people out there who like to use a travel agent ... They just prefer to deal with people face to face."

Meanwhile, research from TravelMole has shown that Tunisia and Egypt are becoming more popular with British holidaymakers than destinations on the continent.ADNFCR-682-ID-18576982-ADNFCR
