28 April 2008 Cheshire drivers warned over speed

Motorists in Cheshire are being clamped down upon as part of an operation from police in the region, according to a local news source.

The Northwich Guardian has reported that New Road in Anderton and Marbury Road in Comberbach are being targeted by officials as part of the crackdown.

Residents have reported speeders travelling at around 50 mph, the news source added, which may compromise their car or van insurance policies if police officers catch them in the act.

This is because some cover firms could view them as a road risk and increase costs as a result.

"I would like to remind everybody that statistics show a driver is more likely to have a collision in a five mile radius from their home because of an over familiarity with their surroundings," said Sergeant Peter Hough from Northwich Police.

Anderton and Comberbach are both found in Northwich, which lies at the confluence of the Weaver and Dane rivers.ADNFCR-682-ID-18570432-ADNFCR
