25 April 2008 ABI: Cheapest cover not always best option
Taking out the cheapest home insurance cover deal is not always the best option for property owners in the UK, it has been claimed.According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), consumers could find that such policies do not offer add-ons such as legal cover or risk extension.
Kelly Ostler-Coyle, speaking on behalf of the organisation, stated that homeowners in Britain should look around the market before settling for a home insurance specific deal.
"You want to be looking properly at your policy to see what cover you have for everything and not just going on price, so if anything happens you are completely covered," said the expert.
This comes as the ABI recently told the Sun that the average person in the UK can make a saving of 35 per cent by comparing five polices across a single type of insurance.
