25 April 2008 Drivers 'steered away from parks with new literature'

Keep off the grass, warns new literature A new website and leaflet has been devised in order to keep motorists from using their vehicles across parks in the Peak District, it has been reported.

The Yorkshire Post has stated that the literature has been developed by the Peak District National Park Authority with the cooperation of the police.

It may be that picking up a conviction for travelling across such areas results in an increase in van insurance policies for drivers, as cover firms could view them as a reckless motorist.

"The issue of use of the countryside by 4x4s and trail bikes is one of the most difficult we face," said Peak District National Park Authority services committee chairman Andrew Marchington.

Officials at Cod Back Reservoir beauty spot have recently altered the layout of its car park in an effort to reduce the volume of traffic in the area.ADNFCR-682-ID-18568510-ADNFCR
