15 April 2008 Gloucestershire roads 'dangerous due to potholes'

Potholes a problems on Gloucester roads. Roads in Gloucestershire have been branded dangerous by local councillors due to potholes, it has been reported.

According to the Gloucester Citizen, parts of the region's highways have been left in disarray due to years of neglect by Gloucestershire county council.

It may be that drivers who travel on these roads suffer an increased chance of having an accident and claiming on their car insurance policies as a result.

Clive Brain, town and district councillor, commented that "the high street is becoming a patchwork quilt".

He said: "Our roads are deteriorating badly and I want to know when something is going to be done ... Unless we start shouting, Cinderford will always be put on the back-burner."

Similar problems have been reported as far away as in the US, with the Guardian stating that officials in St Louis are struggling to deal with potholes caused by cracking in the road after a particularly icy winter.
