15 April 2008 World's first fitting room for new cars unveiled

Motorists can check their appearance before buying a car with Chverolet. Chevrolet has launched what it claims to be the world's first drive-in fitting room for those looking to buy a new car.

Visitors to the company's Phoenix Wimbledon site can check out what they look like when behind the wheel of their potential new vehicle in a special curtained-off area.

Motorists can then see how they look from all angles using a remote control platform.

Some drivers may consider appearance to be as important as road tax and car insurance costs when taking out a new vehicle.

"You wouldn't dream of buying a dress or suit without trying it on first so why should it be any different when it comes to buying a car?," commented the presenter of Channel 4 programme 10 Years Younger, Nicky Hambleton-Jones.

Hambleton-Jones is a qualified dietician who, as part of her Tramp2Vamp company, offers makeover services to those who want a new look.
