03 April 2008 Drivers targeted in Peterborough crackdown

Peterborough officers are targeting rogue drivers. Police officers in Peterborough are targeting drivers in the region showing a disregard for pedestrian areas of the city, according to a local news source.

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph has reported that the Cathedral Square and Long Causeway regions have recently been monitored by officials between 10:30 and 16:30 BST.

It could be that those who pick up convictions on the road find that their car insurance policies become compromised if cover firms judge them to be a risk on highways.

Police Sergeant Paul Nightingale commented that the issue has become an important one for people in the region.

He said: "This has been an ongoing operation over the last few months and was raised as one of the priorities at the last police panel meeting, indicating it has importance for residents."

This comes as an Asda supermarket in Rivergate is cracking down on drivers parking unlawfully in disabled areas, the same news source has reported.
