27 March 2008 Hampshire drivers 'face chaos due to closure'
Motorists in Hampshire are to experience difficult road conditions later this year when a road in the area closes for six months, it has been claimed.According to the Daily Echo, maintenance work on the M27 through Eastleigh is to bring a halt to traffic on one of the region's busiest roads.
It may be that rerouting motorists onto unfamiliar roads creates problems and sees drivers compromise their car insurance policies by risking accidents.
Councillor Chris Thomas has commented that the plans will cause "absolute motoring chaos".
He said: "It's barmy if they think they're going to complete it in December and not disrupt Christmas trade."
Earlier this month, Hampshire News stated that police officials in the area were issuing weather warnings for motorists.
The news source reported that standing water was expected to cause a problem and that drivers should remain vigilant.
