12 March 2008 Cambridgeshire motorists warned of high winds
Drivers using Cambridgeshire roads on their way to work this morning may have experienced difficulties as strong winds hit the region, it has been reported. The Hunts Post states that the area saw gales as high as 50 mph during the rush hour period, causing police to be called-out for a number of incidents.
One involved a palette falling from the back of a vehicle and causing drivers to swerve to avoid it, while another saw a caravan blown from the back of a lorry.
If drivers find themselves involved in such an accident, it may be that they compromise their car insurance policies and have to pay out for repairs.
Similarly, cover companies might charge more to those with a poor recent road history.
The news comes as similarly strong winds are expected in Preston, where the Lancashire Evening Post states gales as harsh as 80 mph are forecast for today.
