11 March 2008 Road safety scheme attempts to educate students

Young drivers have been warned over dangerous motoring Students at colleges in North Wales have been reminded of the dangers of acting dangerously behind the wheel, a local news source has reported.

Approximately 550 students from schools across Denbighshire were educated on the problems that they could encounter on highways in the region at Llyfasi College near Ruthin, the Daily Post stated.

This included the installation of a mock car crash scene, in which crash test dummies were made to look human in order to show the potential scenarios poor highways navigators could face.

In setting up the initiative, it may be that officials from North Wales Fire and Rescure Service save lives and car insurance policies in the future.

"Schemes such as this are a great help in encouraging awareness and promoting better driving standards for young drivers," said Sharon Frobisher from Denbighshire County Council.

Meanwhile, 11-year-old Connor Such has won a competition to have his road safety poster displayed outside Heasandsford Primary School, according to the Burnley Express.
