11 March 2008 Wet weather 'could be critical for tyres'
Motorists have been told to stay on top of the conditions of their tyres in harsh weather conditions by a top safety organisation.According to research from TyreSafe, a quarter of cars and vans have at least one faulty wheel, which could result in accidents on the road.
In addition, people who do not maintain their tyres properly could also find that they compromise their car insurance policies, as cover firms might not offer cheap deals to drivers they consider to be a risk on highways.
"With the latest bout of extreme weather forecast to last for much of the week ahead, which is battering the UK with heavy rain and gale force winds, TyreSafe ... is calling on motorists to take added care," commented the organisation.
This news follows the announcement that Dutch auto manufacturer Vredestein has joined up with TyreSafe, reports Tyre & Accessories.
