10 March 2008 Drivers receive weather warning

Severe winds could prove problematic for drivers. Motorists in Northamptonshire have been urged to take care on the roads following severe weather, a local news source has reported.

According to the Daventry Express, it is a good for drivers to keep an eye on radio and television news for updates on conditions, as strong winds had proved particularly problematic on Monday.

The conditions have even led ferry company P&O to cancel its Bilbao to Portsmouth trip as a result.

It may be that an accident on the roads sees motorists lose out when it comes to their car insurance policies, as some cover firms may view them to be a risk behind the wheel.

A spokesperson for the Northamptonshire constabulary stated that back-up provisions have been made should the conditions persist.

He said: "Contingency plans have been [put] in place by Northamptonshire Police and a special control has been put in place to allow us to act swiftly and deal with any issues that may arise."
