03 March 2008 Motorists 'may be affected by snow'
Police in Scotland have told motorists to take care after heavy snow hit parts of the country last night, a national news source has reported.According to the BBC, officials have warned drivers to be careful when travelling in difficult conditions across Argyll, Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway.
If they were involved in an accident it may be that drivers invalidate their car insurance policies, as cover firms may view the area as representative of an increased risk.
The broadcaster adds that weather forecaster Gail McGrane has said that snow would persist in more northern areas of the country and in Aberdeenshire and Moray.
However, she added that temperatures would improve elsewhere as the day progresses.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued severe weather warnings for a number of areas in Scotland.
According to the body, heavy snow will continue in Strathclyde, Central Tayside & Fife and Lothian & Borders until midday today.
