26 February 2008 Half of car-buyers 'know what they want'

Motorists buying a car 'know what they want' One in two people buying a vehicle know exactly what they want to purchase, according to new research.

British Car Auctions (BCA) has revealed that 50 per cent of motorists have the exact make and model in mind when they approach a dealership.

Picking up the car they have in mind was drivers' number one want when buying, the company found, followed by getting the best price possible and a nearby and convenient dealer.

It may be that considerations such as road tax and the cost of a car insurance policy are factors in helping them decide which vehicle to plump for.

According to Tim Naylor, PR manager at BCA, the service offered by the dealer is also of high importance to the buyer.

"Consumers placed friendly and professional staff as their fourth most important criteria when choosing a particular dealer," said the official.

This comes as research from Classic Restoration Enterprises states that buying a car off the internet are "full of problems just waiting to happen".
