19 February 2008 Warwickshire motorists issued defrosting warning

Drivers warned of defrost danger. Motorists in Warwickshire have been warned that they must keep their vehicles under close watch when defrosting them if they are to avoid being made a victim of crime.

Local officers believe that leaving a vehicle unattended while warming it up of a morning could make them a target for opportunistic thieves, according to Banbury Today.

This can have an effect on car insurance policies, as it may be that cover firms choose not to offer cheap deals to people they feel have acted negligently towards their car.

"During the last few months, we have had a number of reports from people who found their car had been stolen from right outside their own home," said Detective Sergeant Martyn Stephens from Warwickshire Police.

This comes as officials in the region look to re-evaluate local speed limits as part of a £1 million road safety project.
