15 February 2008 Resurfacing plan 'could inconvenience drivers for months'
A plan to resurface part a busy route in Southampton could see drivers face months of traffic misery, it has been reported. The Basingstoke Gazette reports that the proposal, scheduled between April and June at Millbrook roundabout, will affect motorists using nearby Terbourba Way, First Avenue, Regents Park Road and Millbrook Road West.
It may be that the resulting difficulties reroute drivers to roads with which they are unfamiliar, potentially causing them to risk their car insurance policies if they find themselves in difficulty.
Association of British Drivers representative Hugh Bladon believes the timing of the move is questionable.
He said: "It should be done in March rather than May and June."
The official added that the decision to perform the operation in stages will cause just as much congestion.
Meanwhile, the Morpeth Herald reports that road works in Morpeth will see Oldgate closed for the next two Sundays.
