14 February 2008 West Yorkshire drivers warned of 'most dangerous time'

Rush hour on Tuesdays 'dangerous' for drivers. The most dangerous time to be on the road in West Yorkshire has been relayed to motorists, it has been reported.

According to the Bradford Telegraph & Argus, Department for Transport (DfT) figures show that between 17:00 and 18:00 on a Tuesday is the worst period to hit highways in the region.

It may be that those travelling home from work on Tuesdays find that they are more likely to risk their car insurance policies at this time as a result.

The government body added that Wednesday is the second most dangerous day, while Sunday was found to be the safest, as 808 accidents were recorded on the Sabbath in 2006.

Roads minister Jim Fitzpatrick comments that the DfT is moving positively in the drive to improve road safety.

"We are on track to meet our 2010 target of reducing by 40 per cent the number of accidents in which someone is killed or seriously injured," he said.

DfT figures from 2006 show that there was a total of 3,150 road deaths recorded in the UK.
