14 February 2008 Goole young drivers subject to police crackdown
A campaign targeting young drivers in Goole is aiming to reduce road casualties, it has been reported.Goole Today states that officers in the region are looking to lower the amount of accidents involving 17 to 25-year-old motorists.
It may be that young drivers pick up higher car insurance policies because they are considered to be a risk on the road.
The news source comments that an average of 300 East Riding crashes occurs each year including a motorist from the age group.
Humberside Police casualty reduction officer for the area PC Glen Dennis said "this campaign is about offering advice to young drivers".
"If we find a motorist driving in a dangerous way or if a vehicle is unsafe we will prosecute the driver ... We urge young drivers to consider taking extra training," he said.
This comes as the For My Girlfriend campaign has been launched by Southend-on-Sea Borough Council officials in order to keep young drivers safe this Valentine's Day, reports 24dash.
