12 February 2008 Speeding offences 'likely picked up by company car drivers'

Company car drivers 'caught out speeding more' Motorists in the UK driving company vehicles regularly pick up speeding offences when they are caught breaking the law, new research shows.

According to GE Fleet Services, over the last 12 months 41 per cent of fines issued to occupational motorists were for breaking the limit, Motor Trader states.

Such an offence could prove to be problematic to drivers, as it may be that their car insurance policies suffer as a result if cover firms see it as an excuse to increase costs.

GE Fleet Services managing director Rich Green states that the study is representative of roads conditions today.

"We believe that the same size [sample] is big enough to provide a good general picture of the fines being paid by company car drivers and their employees," he said.

This comes as council bosses in Warwickshire have announced that £1 million is to be spent re-evaluating speed limits on A and B roads in the county, the Coventry Telegraph reports.
