01 February 2008 Motor trade 'treats sexes differently'

Battle of the sexes rages on in motor industry, says survey. Women believe that they largely get a raw deal from the motor industry, it has been stated.

Research from Auto Trader reported in Motor Trader comments that female car buyers believe males get preferential treatment when it comes to a purchase.

The study also found that price was the most important thing for women to consider when they buy a new car, with model and brand following.

It added that 70 per cent of females do not want to be treated any differently to men when picking up a vehicle.

However, it may be that they come off better when taking out car insurance, as firms often give cheaper deals to women as they are usually considered less prone to accidents.

This comes as a survey from evecars.com earlier this month found that female motorists driving convertible cars are usually the most physically attractive, Motor Trader states.
