29 January 2008 Shelley Park crackdown on rogue drivers

Motorists have been warned to stay within the law close to Shelley Park. Motorists who make life difficult for people living near Shelley Park in Derbyshire will be targeted as part of a new police operation, it has been reported.

According to Chesterfield Today, residents have complained to Parkhouse Safer Neighbourhood Team about people driving in an illegal fashion in the area.

It may be that those who are caught out compromise their car insurance policies, as an offence could see them pay out for repairs or make a claim.

Lesley Bacon, a police community support officer from the Parkhouse team, wants to "solve this problem".

"Safer Neighbourhoods is about working together and that is what we are doing here. We will continue our patrols and take action against these nuisance drivers," said the official.

Meanwhile, the Derbyshire Times reports that police in the region are looking for witnesses are a motorists died in a crash on the M1 on Friday.
