22 January 2008 Cheshire motorists warned of icy road risk
Motorists in Cheshire have been told to stay careful on roads in the region tonight, it has been reported.Cheshire County Council has stated that icy surfaces could pose a problem for people in the area, according to the Northwich Guardian.
It may be that an accident in the county results in motorists compromising their car insurance policies if cover providers view them as a risk on the roads.
Cheshire's strategic network manager Melvin Swallow comments that in the east of the county, rain is forecast from 21:00 to 22:00 GMT, followed by icy conditions, it added.
"This gives us very little time to mobilise our gritters and ensure that the roads are treated before the ice forms," said Mr Swallow.
Research from Mercedes-Benz World has found that motorists get nervous in extreme weather conditions.
Some 60 per cent cited ice as their least favourite hazard, it added.
