18 January 2008 'Misleading signs should be removed'

Road signs give the wrong impression. Two signs which tell motorists in Bradford that they are to enter onto a dual carriageway should be taken down for being inaccurate, according to a local news source.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus states that the stretch of the A658 Harrogate Road in Eccleshill became a single-lane road several years ago.

It may be that motorists who follow the signs find themselves involved in an accident and risk making a claim on their car insurance policies in the process.

Resident Clifford Kay from Ravenscliffe Avenue comments that the fact that the signs still remain is unacceptable, the news source added.

"It's laughable that these signs are still up after all these years of it not being a dual carriageway. I'm tempted to take them down myself because drivers see them and speed up," he said.

The national speed limit for cars on a dual carriageway in a non-built up area is 70 mph and 60 mph on a single carriageway.
