Police in Norwich stopped over 100 drivers for using a bus lane in the city centre, according to a local news source.

The Norwich Evening News states that 107 verbal warnings were issued to motorists using the restricted area of Catton Grove Road during the 07:30 to 09:30 GMT rush hour.

A conviction behind the wheel could prove to be a problem for people looking to keep their car insurance policy prices down.

This is because some cover firms may find the notice indicative of a dangerous road user.

Sergeant Lucy Hayman commented that the rules are in place in order to keep people on bikes protected and roads clear.

"The restrictions are there to ease congestion, encourage people to consider using other forms of transport and to provide cyclists with a safer route. Drivers who routinely ignore the restrictions do so at their peril," she said.

Meanwhile, Richmond & Twickenham Times reports that the installation of new bus lanes in the area will kill local business, as people will not want to stop and park.
