14 January 2008 Uninsured Dorset drivers "completely irresponsible"
People travelling on roads in Dorset without car insurance have been branded "completely irresponsible" by a police official, a local news source reports. The Dorset Echo states that over 2,000 vehicles were seized by authorities in the region in 2007 for not having appropriate cover.
It adds that the figure reached 150,000 cars nationwide and that 50 per cent of those caught out were under 29.
Dorset Police contact management support officer Nick Power commented that officials punished an "impressive" amount.
He added: "My message to people driving without insurance is; it is only a matter of time before we catch them. It's completely irresponsible and other drivers are paying for them to do so."
Meanwhile, figures from Experian show that online car insurance costs went down over the last quarter of 2007.
It stated that there was a 0.3 per cent drop over the final three months of the year.
