14 January 2008 Drivers asked to "take extra care"

Motorists need to take extra care this winter. Police in Suffolk have reminded motorists to ensure they stay as safe as possible on roads this winter, it has been reported.

The Suffolk Evening Star states that two motorcycle riders were injured after coming off their bikes on the Copdock Mill interchange of the A12.

Such an accident can have a serious effect on car insurance policies, as cover firms may increase costs if they consider a driver representative of an increased road risk.

A spokesperson for the local police force commented that motorists are being encouraged "to take extra care" on highways over the season, the news site adds.

"The roads are still quite damp in places at the moment and they can get slippery because of the grit that has been put down," said the source.

Council bosses in Sheffield have take to adding Molasses to grit used on the region's roads in order to reduce accidents.
