11 January 2008 'Vandal attacks increase by more than 100 per cent'
There has been an increase in incidents of vandalism on cars in Bury St Edmunds in recent months, it has been reported.According to Bury Free Press, December saw 54 instances of such vehicle crime compared to 25 in September.
Motorists may find that they have to claim on their car insurance policies if they are made the victim of an attack, while an incident could also see them pay more for their cover deals in the future if companies consider them prone to problems.
Councillor Paul Farmer represents the Mill Road area and said that this behaviour should not be tolerated.
"This is anti-social behaviour. It is up to all of us, residents, councillors and other bodies, to say we don't want this to go on, we want this to stop," he said.
Meanwhile, the Basingstoke Gazette reports that a Hampshire school will have to pay £4,000 after its windows were smashed by vandals.
