09 January 2008 Motorists warned after Bromsgrove thefts

Motorists need to ensure their vehicle's safety, say Bromsgrove police. Drivers in Bromsgrove have been told that they need to keep an eye out if they are to avoid becoming victims of car theft, it has been reported.

According to the Bromsgrove Advertiser, hundreds of pounds worth of damage was caused last Sunday night as vehicles in Spencer Walk, Catshill and Marlbrook were targeted by criminals.

It added that several items were stolen by the thieves including a laptop computer, stereo and CDs.

Motorists may be able to replace such goods by claiming on their car insurance policies, but some may find that cover companies increase prices if they view an area as prone to such activity.

Police have urged witnesses and anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers.

This comes as officers in the Hertfordshire region have launched Operation Tarantula - an initiative designed to reduce the number of instances of car crime recorded in the area.
