03 January 2008 Scarborough speeders told: Slow down
Motorists in Scarborough who continue to break the speed limit on local roads are risking the lives of people in the area, it has been claimed.A resident of Avenue Road, who did not wish to be named, told the Scarborough Evening News that she had nearly been hit twice when leaving her house.
She added that she is particularly worried about young children, the elderly and the disabled in the area, commenting that "somebody may get killed if we don't get something done".
Motorists involved in a traffic accident may also find that their car insurance policies become compromised, which could result in more expensive bills in the future.
"All the residents are concerned about speeding and the fact that so many cars are using the road to get out of the traffic on Falsgrave," she remarked.
Last month, Chris Anderson from the 95 Alive road safety partnership told the newspaper that "ignorance is no excuse" for those caught drinking and driving in the region.
