19 December 2007 Resurfacing scheme 'to delay drivers'
A road works programme set to begin in the new year will delay motorists across Devon, it has been reported.Drivers who travel on the Downland Cross to Bucks Cross, Abbotsham Cross to Kenwith Viaduct and Stitworthy Cross to Clovelly Cross highways will be diverted elsewhere from January 21st 2008 until the end of March, according to the North Devon Gazette.
As a result, it may be that driving on unfamiliar roads has a negative effect on car insurance policies, as motorists could be more likely to crash.
The £1.7 million resurfacing, drainage and reconstruction scheme will be carried out by Devon County Council.
Meanwhile, drivers in Northumberlund are welcoming the reopening of a bridge in the region which has been closed for close to four months, it has been reported.
The Journal states that Wylam Bridge was shut by the county council at the end of August.
